Home Exercise Tips During Circuit Breaker

Pilates, Blog, / By Koh Peh Chia

With most activities suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have been advised to stay home during the circuit breaker period. I understand that some people might choose to do nothing or just indulge in food and tidbits especially when they are binge-watching Netflix! It eventually increases the risk of a sedentary lifestyle for many people. However, it is never too late to start keeping fit if you aim to change your current lifestyle. Hence today, I am giving you some tips to kickstart your home exercise plan during this Circuit Breaker period.

1. No Equipment Needed

The simplest way to work out at home is to use your own body weight. There are a variety of effective body weight workouts that can boost your strength, flexibility and endurance. Such as push up, squats, lunges, crunches etc are excellent choices for home workout. And if you make them into circuit training, it can keep your heart rate up and burn more calories too. 2. Be Creative

As i said, we don’t need anything but our body weight to exercise. But if you do want to add variety, some common things around the house could make you have more fun. For instance, we can use a chair for squats and triceps dips, and a pillow to replace the yoga block etc. Just be more creative about using your household items as fitness tools!

3. Keep A Safe Place

It is important to exercise safely at home.  Choose a spot that is ventilated and has room for at least an exercise mat and this should be enough space for you to stretch out.

4. Always Keep Personal Hygiene

No matter where you work out, keep your personal hygiene as good habits. Even if you are exercising at home, it is very important to practise good health and recover habits to prevent getting sick or worn out. Wash hands regularly, stay hydrated and always wipe up any pools of sweat you might leave after exercise.
